The unique hourglass was created using a technique the designer developed in collaboration with Shard Art Studio. It is not a single unified piece, but two interconnected forms that symbolically and through their colors communicate duality, a theme that runs throughout the entire ~1 hour collection.

Each color represents half an hour, and together they form a full hour a moment we should dedicate to ourselves every day. The two pieces fused into one also reflect the designer’s Arab identity while living in the Czech Republic, with her roots subtly woven into every object in the collection.

The work merges her love for Czech glassmaking with flashes of childhood and adolescence. Sand, an essential element of any hourglass, evokes the endless dunes of the places that bring her back to her origins and highlight time as a fluid phenomenon.

Where else but in the vast desert can we truly feel how relative time is a concept to which we submit every part of our hectic lives without a moment’s rest? Let’s change that. Let’s break the linear flow of time, if only for an hour, and steal a moment just for ourselves.
